As the importance around social media continues to grow, brands should stay on top of what’s happening to stay in the conversation. TikTok’s “What’s Next Report” describes current emerging trends and identifies four mega-opportunities for brands to succeed on TikTok in 2022.

3. NEW: TikTok Stories

TikTok has released a “Stories” feature that allows users to upload pictures or clips that disappear after 24 hours. The concept of “Stories” in social media was popularized by the app Snapchat. Since then, numerous platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and others have integrated this idea on their platforms.

4. Reels for more authenticity

A recent study by Meta shows that creators and brands are using Instagram Reels to promote new forms of self-expression. Reels are an accessible production tool that allows anyone to create and edit entertaining short videos to share with the Instagram community. Here you can also reach users outside of your own followers.

5. What are the latest Gen Z trends?

A new study by Instagram in cooperation with the market research company YPulse shows that 61% of Generation Z uses Instagram as a shopping platform. A large proportion of them also attach great importance to social engagement with brands and also want to take off as entrepreneurs on social media.
